We are excited to invite you to a meaningful winter day tour of Pahariapara Agamir School, located in Phulbaria, Mymensingh, a school born from community strength, heritage, and sustainability on 9th January 2026.

Once, every family in Pahariapara lived in mud houses. Over time, many began abandoning them, believing mud houses symbolized poverty. But through SALT-CLCP facilitation and collective learning, the community rediscovered a powerful truth: this heritage is their strength, not their weakness.

With no school in the area, the community did not wait for outside solutions. Instead, they came together and built their own school in partnership with Grow Your Reader Foundation (GYRF), using sustainable, locally available materials honoring their traditions while protecting the environment.

Through this process, together they reduced construction costs by 70% and cut 2,000 tons of carbon emissions. By blending traditional mud techniques with modern design, classroom temperatures dropped by 3°C, and humidity decreased by 5% creating naturally cooler and more comfortable learning spaces, even during seasonal changes. Approximately 70% of our school’s students are first-generation learners from this area.

The Shafayat Foundation supported the establishment of a beautiful community library, the “Squadron Leader Shafayat Memorial Library (SLSM Library)”, and PERCEIVED co-created the school’s architectural design along with the community.
Pahariapara Agamir School is not just a school; it is a living story of self-belief, resilience, and community-led change.

? During the visit, we will:
• Take a guided tour of the school and the community
• Host 3–4 reading sessions with children
• Organize a painting activity
• Hold a bangla book drive and fundraising session to support the school and its future initiatives

? Travel Details:
We will start our journey from Bashundhara Residential Area and arrange up to two microbuses, depending on the number of participants traveling together to share stories, warmth, and conversation along the way.

? Lunch will be served, lovingly prepared by the community members.
